Joakim Bonnier’s victory at the May 31, 1959, Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort was a significant milestone.
It was the first World Championship victory for both the Swedish driver Joakim Bonnier (his only career win) and the BRM team (Owen Racing Organisation).
Bonnier started from pole position and led the race from start to finish, winning by 15 seconds over Jack Brabham.
He drove the front-engine BRM P25, which, despite earlier reliability issues, proved successful in this race
